Introducing the 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon, the latest addition to the prestigious E-Class lineup. Designed to appeal to those with discerning tastes and families seeking a versatile vehicle, this new estate model brings a blend of functionality and cutting-edge technology to the table.
The first thing you’ll notice about the E-Class Wagon is its updated design. The roofline has been dynamically reimagined, giving it a more progressive appearance than its predecessor. A black panel-like surface seamlessly connects the radiator grille with the headlamps, drawing inspiration from the sleek Mercedes-EQ models. Depending on the trim level, you can choose from a progressive or classic three-dimensionally designed radiator grille. Additionally, an optional chrome-framed radiator grille with optical fibre backlighting is available for all trim levels (Avantgarde, Exclusive, and AMG Line).
When it comes to lighting, the new E-Class Estate doesn’t disappoint. LED High-Performance headlamps come as standard, while the optional Digital Light adds a projection function for enhanced visibility. The distinctive daytime running lights take the shape of an eyebrow, adding a touch of elegance to the overall design.
Mercedes-Benz has made significant improvements to the interior space of the E-Class Estate. According to Mercedes-Benz, the new Estate model has increased in width by 28 mm, offering more room for rear passengers compared to its predecessor. Mercedes also notes that the wheelbase has also been extended by 22 millimetres to 2 961 millimetres, resulting in increased legroom. It is believed that the load compartment can now expand from 615 litres to an impressive 1 830 litres. In the plug-in hybrid model, the luggage capacity ranges from 460 to 1 675 litres, ensuring a level load compartment.
Step inside, and you’ll find that the interior is similar to the recently introduced E-Class sedan. One standout feature is the optional MBUX Superscreen, a sleek digital gauge cluster, central infotainment screen, and passenger screen, all integrated under one large glass panel. The Superscreen even includes a selfie camera for the driver, designed to work with popular third-party apps like Zoom and TikTok. Other third-party apps available include Angry Birds, Webex, Pocket Casts (a podcast app), and a web browser.
Under the metal, the 2024 E-Class Wagon offers three powertrain options, including a plug-in hybrid. The entry-level E200 boasts a 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 152 kW of power and 320 N.m of torque. The E220d, on the other hand, features a similarly sized diesel engine generating 146 kW and 439 N.m of torque. The most exciting choice is the hybrid variant, which combines the base petrol engine with an Integrated Starter Generator. This configuration delivers a combined output of 155 kW of power and 549 N.m of torque.
