The hybrid powertrain of the CR-V remains unchanged, featuring a 2,0-liter four-cylinder engine combined with two electric motors. This configuration delivers a total system output of 152 kW and 334 N.m. Honda has shared that hybrid-equipped trim levels account for over 50% of CR-V sales in the American market begging the question of whether the Japanese automaker should introduce the powertrain into the South African market to contend in the growing new energy vehicle (NEV) segment.
At present, only 3 grades are offered in South Africa including the 2.0 Comfort CVT, 2.0 Elegance CVT and 1.5T Executive CVT which includes an AWD derivative. The naturally aspirated 2,0-litre four-cylinder motor puts out 113 kW and 189 N.m while the turbocharged 1,5-litre unit is capable of 140 kW and 240 N.m.
Honda has not made any comment on whether the derivative will arrive in South Africa, so for the time being the 3 grades of the premium SUV flagship will remain unchanged.
