Mitsubishi looks set at getting a piece of the supermini pie in Europe. How they are doing so is by introducing a badge-engineered version of the Clio which will wear the Colt badge – here are all details.
The 2024 Mitsubishi Colt has been unveiled, confirming that it will be a rebadged version of the Renault Clio. Following Mitsubishi’s announcement in early 2022 about selling rebadged Renault models in Europe, the Colt joins the lineup as the supermini counterpart to the previously introduced ASX, which is a rebadged Renault Captur. Like its crossover sibling, the Colt will be manufactured by Renault at its factory in Valladolid, Spain. However, production of the Colt will take place in Bursa, Turkey, under Mitsubishi’s supervision.
The 2024 Colt is essentially a badge-engineered version of the recently facelifted Renault Clio. While there are some minor design tweaks to the grille, bumpers, and lights, the overall car remains largely the same. The interior is nearly identical as well, except for the Mitsubishi logo on the steering wheel and the absence of the French flag on the passenger side of the dashboard.

Powertrain options for the subcompact hatchback include a naturally aspirated 1,0-liter three-cylinder motor that produces 49 kW and 95 N.m in base spec. Add a turbocharger to the same displacement and the 1,0-liter engine increases output to 67 kW and 160 N.m.
The top-of-the-range variant features a naturally aspirated 1,6-liter hybrid powertrain, delivering a combined output of 105 kW. The internal combustion engine generates 148 N.m of torque, while the electric motor adds 205 N.m. Apart from being the most fuel-efficient option, the hybrid is also the quickest, achieving its 100 km/h sprint time in 9,3 seconds. The turbocharged model takes 12,2 seconds for the same, while the base version requires a lethargic 17,1 seconds. It remains much the same for top speed with both the turbo and hybrid capable of 180 km/h and the entry-level model good for 20 km/h less.
The hybrid model also features an electronic parking brake feature rear disc brakes, while others are equipped with drum brakes. The base model comes with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the turbo version upgrades to a six-speed unit. The hybrid model is paired with an automatic transmission and includes a 1.2-kWh battery pack and brake energy recovery. Wheel sizes range from 15-inch steelies to 17-inch alloys.
The interior of the Mitsubishi Colt closely resembles that of the Renault Clio. It offers a 7,0-inch touchscreen, which can be upgraded to a larger 9,3-inch infotainment display. Other features include two USB ports, a wireless charging pad, and a nine-speaker Bose sound system with a subwoofer. The driver can choose between a seven-inch or a larger 10-inch instrument cluster at an additional cost. The Colt will also offer various optional features, including a heated steering wheel, bi-LED headlights, 360-degree cameras, heated mirrors, and a comprehensive selection of safety equipment similar to that available for the Clio.
Production of the Mitsubishi Colt is scheduled to begin in September, with the market launch planned for this fall, following Renault’s manufacturing process.
