Earlier today we got to have a look at the updated Ford Fiesta ST which brought with it some styling changes and more torque. Now let’s look at the rest of the range which introduces a number of design revisions and a new powertrain option.
The updated Ford Fiesta range retains its Trend, Titanium and ST-Line trim levels together with the Active crossover offering. A premium Vignale pack has also been introduced for consumers who wish more a more conclusive ownership experience.
The highlight of the updated package are the LED headlamps as seen in the Ford Fiesta ST. Optionally available in the mainline models as well is the advanced Matrix LED cluster which offers a glare-free high beam functionality that can adapt to different conditions.
Design highlights of the updated Ford Fiesta are the same as the ones highlighted in the ST. This includes the raised bonnet, repositioned badge and taillamp outer finish. The Trend and Titanium models now feature a broad upper grille with horizontal strakes and a gloss chrome surround with distinctive side intakes. The Titanium model adds horizontal bars to the upper grille with a hot-stamped chrome finish that matches the window surrounds. The ST-Line model adopts a new gloss black upper grille that is inset deeper and a larger lower grille. Wide side vents are finished in the body colour.
Creating a more diverse offering, the updated Ford Fiesta adopts seven new alloy wheel designs and two new colours. This includes the Boundless Blue seen in the ST and a Beautiful Berry shade.
While the Ford Fiesta retains its turbopetrol 1,0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost mill, a 48-volt mild-hybrid system has been added to advance the subcompact hatch into the modern eco-friendly age. This unit sources power from a lithium-ion air cooled battery pack and increases the output from 92 kW to 114 kW. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox but the brand’s seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is optionally available. The 74 kW and 92 kW state-of-tune powertrains are still available as well with the same transmission options.
Within the cabin of the updated Ford Fiesta is a customisable 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Ford South Africa is yet to confirm a local introduction for the updated Fiesta range.
