The highly anticipated Kia Picanto GT Line have emerged in some leaked images, giving us a glimpse into the impressive design changes expected in the 2023 model.
The Kia Picanto has been one of the brand’s best-selling models in the local market, especially as of late – bolstering monthly sales.
Toni Herbst, the spokesperson for KIA South Africa, emphasized the significance of the Picanto range, stating, “The Kia Picanto range has always been a vital model for South Africans, and we are committed to its continuous evolution. Although we have yet to confirm the exact models within the range for the introduction in 2024, we can assure our customers that exciting changes are on the horizon.”

The leaked images reveal a bolder and more assertive design compared to the current model. Drawing inspiration from the GT-Line five-door hatch and the forthcoming EV9 SUV concept, the exterior features distinct design cues.
The vertical headlights, complemented by a large grille, and the multi-spoke wheels resembling those found on the Sportage GT Line, contribute to its dynamic appearance.
One of the most striking updates is the redesigned rear, departing from the previous model’s petite taillights. In their place, a wrap-around tail-light design with LED elements, reminiscent of the EV9 SUV, takes centre stage.
Additionally, a sporty rear diffuser and side markers further accentuate the Picanto GT Line’s athletic stance. Inside the cabin, the structural layout remains largely unchanged, with notable additions such as a digital driver’s display and revised air-con vents.
While Kia’s all-electric concepts and road-going models have yet to reach the local market, Kia South Africa has expressed its eagerness to introduce New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) to customers.
The company aims to ensure that the pricing of these vehicles aligns with its value proposition, undertaking thorough investigations, studies, and real-life assessments of numerous NEV homologation units currently in the country.
