Well, folks, it looks like the Citroën AMI is trying to become the latest addition to the world of motorsports. And by that, we mean it’s taking a nose dive into the walls of Monaco’s famous Turn 6. Watch below in the comedic low, speed rollover.
In a video that’s been circulating the internet, we see the little electric car attempting to take on the infamous bend with all its might. Spoiler alert, it doesn’t end well!
With tyres screeching and the driver’s desperation to make the turn, the Citroën finds itself balanced on two wheels, heading straight towards the cameraman like a scene from a wacky comedy movie. Just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, the car flops over onto its side, hitting a bollard on the way down. Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash although we are sure there may be some bruised egos. Despite its mishap, the structure of the microcar held out pretty well, boding well for occupant safety.
Now, we know that Turn 6 is a notorious corner for even the best of the best in the world of racing. But we didn’t think it would be so tough that it would cause a micro-car to go tumbling down like a toddler learning how to walk. Maybe the Citroën AMI should stick to its original purpose of being a compact and affordable electric vehicle for urban commuting. We don’t think it’s cut out for the big leagues just yet.
But hey, at least we got a good laugh out of it, right? Here’s to hoping the driver of the Citroën AMI has better luck next time. Or at the very least, invest in some training wheels.
